![]() This term (Remix) has been used in all genres of music but it has it's roots in" Dance hall" culture of the late 1960's/70's in Jamaica. Producer/Engineer King Tubby help popularize instrumental "versions" of Reggae songs by adding effects, dropping vocals in and out of the mix, changing the length if the original track and by doing this ultimately changing the perspective of the song and taking it to a different place than it's original predecessor. In short, this has translated to disco, house, R & B, Funk, Hip -Hop, Electronica and various other genres of music!
